RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". It is a technology that allows you to stay updated with new content which is posted to this site. So how is this done? Simple.
I provide a web feed that you subscribe to. You subcribe through a feed reader (e.g. Google Reader or Bloglines) which organizes the content into one location for easy viewing. Granted there are other feed readers out there, Google Reader and Bloglines are the most popular and free of charge. If you don't want to follow a feed anymore just unsubscribe at anytime.

As mentioned before, there are many options when it comes to choosing a feed reader. One that might not be so obvious is your web browsers own built in feed reader. On the web address bar there should be a RSS logo located on the very right side. Once you click on that you can choose the in-browser reader or other feed readers like Google Reader, Bloglines, etc... I personally use Firefox's built in Live Bookmarks feature. Again, you can take your pick.
Still not sold on the whole RSS idea? The other alternative is to receive updates through email. Email addresses are kept confidential and used for the sole purpose of getting new content to you.

Amerikajin.net was originally created as means of keeping in touch with close family & friends. With further consideration, I decided to share my overseas experiences in hopes of providing practical value to a much larger audience.
As a Chinese American who grew up in Missouri, getting in tune with my cultural identity did not come easy. I did not start to develop a true appreciation for my Asian heritage up until late high school and throughout college. After coming home from a college winter vacation in Thailand, Hong Kong, and Japan, I knew that one day I would be returning for an extended stay.
On July 2008, I ended my 2 year tenure working IT for a large financial firm in order to pursue this dream. It was a bold decision to make especially not being reassured of when a next paycheck would be coming in. But instead of letting fear guide my choice, I was for the very first time starting a new chapter in my life where the next steps were not paved out as they have been in the past. It was an unwelcoming feeling, but life itself is filled with uncertainty, so why not learn to embrace these emotions?
With this site, I will primarily be providing an insight into the life, culture, events, and entertainment of Hong Kong. This is where my family was originally from, so it only seems right to set up shop here. However, I do plan on making frequent trips to other areas of eastern Asia part of my agenda. I can't guarantee I will cover all the parts you hope for, but I intend to visit the more recognized places. I will also be posting about various news that I find interesting in Asia.
Whether you have thought about moving to Asia, want to travel there, or for any other reason that has brought you to this site, my only goal is that you can take something away from my experiences. If I can accomplish that then I'll know that my move was worthwhile.

No, I'm not begging for donations. I was actually kindly asked by a reader to have a link put up. Expect any contributions to go towards replenishing my ramen stash, keeping toilet paper on the dispenser, and of course encouraging me to keep providing for YOU!
