Rumors of needing to provide your real name on China’s Weibo micro-blogging site and services alike have lingered since earlier this year. Now we are certain that this government required check is no joke as they have set a date of March 16 for users to submit this information. Identities will be verified by Chinese national ID number or passport for foreigners. Those who do not submit in time will still have the privilege of viewing their account but will be unable to post messages.
