Have been in Thailand for the past few days for work and enjoying a bit of beach and sun. Arrived in Bangkok yesterday just in time to catch day one of the “Red Shirt” protests today. These Thaksin supporters swarmed the streets causing massive traffic, as you can see, and tightened security around the area. Their request is to have the current parliament dissolved within 24hrs or face intense street demonstrations in the following days. Hope this won’t affect my flight tomorrow afternoon!

Last year an airport was closed down for over a week due to similar tensions between those who support the red shirt ideology and that of the current Government.

I’m pretty sure no one wants to appear to be bad here so I don’t think it’ll happen this time around but good luck to you getting your flight tomorrow anyway!

Had no problems to the airport nor was there a protester in sight. Glad to get out safe, but guess we’ll see how this tension unravels.
