Amerikajin Moved To Shanghai
So I’ve been MIA for almost a good month on this site, reason being what the title suggests. Spent the whole month of December not only attending family functions during the holidays, but frantically finishing up last minute tasks to ease my transition to Shanghai last night.
Why Shanghai? Well that’s easy to answer. Work, opportunity, change of scene, pretty much everything that prompted my move to Hong Kong a year an a half ago. Leaving doesn’t mean Hong Kong didn’t live up to my expectations because it did. Living in Hong Kong gave me a real breath of fresh air, figuratively speaking, and really allowed me to redefine and shape my character to become more driven, creative, and outgoing. The fast pace of city life has taught me the true meaning of hustling and getting things done, although learning to balance everything is still a work in progress.
Shanghai brings about grave challenges. New culture, language, geography poses great obstacles to overcome which I have already accepted. As still a developing city, Shanghai itself also faces many challenges. As I like to believe “just roll with the punches”. However, I know it won’t be a smooth roll to begin with.
Hope to get this site updated again regularly as I get settled. I can tell you I will definitely still be making trips back to Hong Kong from time to time, but for now welcome Shanghai as part of this sites regular updates.
