Chinese Herbal Doctors
When it comes to personal health the body should have the ability to naturally rid or heal infections. What if time is not on your hands? Well growing up in western culture it was always pop a few Advils and if symptoms persist see a doctor to be prescribed other pills. Although this “quick fix” usually works, many Chinese will disagree with this method.
Enter herbal medicine. Herbal medicine is intended to reach the root of the problem and heal a person from inside out, not outside in. Through natural sources the body should grow stronger over time, strong enough to expel current and prevent future problems.
A typical herbalist’s office can look like this. No appointments or insurance needed. Just make sure you have money and queue up to wait your turn for a 10-15 minute consultation.
Herbs and other natural sources are kept in big labeled jars.
After explaining your symptoms, you get a herbal prescription and hand it over to the “pharmacist” who gathers all the goods.
Herbs are split up into daily dosages and wrapped up in paper. When it’s time to take the medicine you have to boil the contents in water and drink the leftovers. Usually a weeks worth of herbs is given, so you have to return, sight any differences, and get a new refill. Sounds draining to the pockets, but I’ve heard my fair share of success stories.
