Red Box Karaoke Hong Kong
I don’t have much of a voice, but from time to time I’ll go to karaoke with a few others for the atmosphere, food, and drinks.
This particular Red Box is in Grand Century Place in Mong Kok. It’s got a red-light district type feel.
Before heading to your room, you get handed these mic covers.
It’s a good idea for those who get a bit intimate with their singing. What are the 4 black cups behind the mic? Those are given to you when you order alcohol. In the States it’s all about flip cup or beer pong drinking games, but in Asia it’s all about liar’s dice. Liar’s dice requires you to use your head and strategically make your opponent lose and drink. Not going to explain the rules, but Google it if interested.
We had three people and decided to get a $657 HKD package which included a bottle of Hennessy, 15 drinks (alcoholic or non), an appetizer, and all night singing until 6am.
I like Red Box because they usually have the newest songs along with a lot of good oldies. Search and choose your songs by number and it automatically gets queued. Keep in mind they carry more than just English and Chinese songs.
There’s no excuse to sing off key. Sound your best by controlling the mic echo and volume of the music as well.
At other Red Box’s you can go out and get your own refreshments included with the room charge. From soda’s to hot chocolate and cappuccino, it’s all free. This particular Red Box is located in Tai Kok Tsui, west of Mong Kok.
Make your own herbal tea if you prefer. Is warm or cold liquid supposed to help soothe your voice from singing? Or is it warm at first and then cold towards the end? Been trying to figure out what combo works best to prevent that scratchiness in the voice.
