Canon EOS 50D
I know as much about DSLR’s as I do women. NOT MUCH. Both are packed with great functions and features, but press the wrong button and all goes to hell. Unlike a woman though, the Canon 50D comes with an instruction manual.
Spent a good intensive 3 days researching online for a camera that was semi-pro, extendible, affordable, and simply took quality images. Features like high megapixel resolution and HD recording capability didn’t appeal to me. With that in mind, I initially had my eyes set on the EOS 40D. I soon found out the EOS 40D was discontinued, and all the credible Hong Kong camera shops only sold its successor, the EOS 50D.
This made for a tough choice because I didn’t need the 5 megapixel boost, VGA screen, or higher ISO sensitivity which were essentially the main difference between the two, not to mention price. After continued brand and model comparisons, the decision was made for the 50D.
The EOS 50D came standard with a 17-85mm lens which was the exact range I wanted. I also added a B+W filter to eliminate UV haziness and provide an extra layer of protection for the lens.
What I love about buying electronics in Hong Kong is all the freebies. The camera came with a tripod, carry bag, extra battery, and 4GB CF card. Been happy about the image results so far and will probably post up a few soon. There is a huge learning curve coming straight from compact, and I hope to narrow that gap in the next few months.
