Shanghai Day 2: Sola Aoi x Yone x M1NT
Sola and Yone were also in Shanghai for the first time. For those not familiar, Yone is a well-known Japanese editor and photographer. View some of his work on his website.
M1NT is the world’s first shareholders club with locations in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Cannes. I got to tour the club in the afternoon before the press conference at night. This is the restaurant side of the club with a great view of Shanghai.
Sola enjoying the view with her camera. Let’s see what she’s looking at.
A bit of a gloomy day but still a nice sight. I know plans for more skyscrapers are currently in the works.
The club had a long bar which wraps around the corner.
The main side of the bar where the traffic hits.
Just opposite are tables and seats with a VIP entrance at the right corner.
Sola and Yone discussing the setup for the conference along with M1NT’s general manager.
Close to the bar and up a few steps is M1NT’s $2 million shark tank. I should say that’s $2 million HKD, which still comes out to be about $260,000 USD. Each shark cost a little more than $3,800 USD.
Trying to see how far down the tank I could get.
Fast forward to the night. After going back to the hotel for a quick nap and shower, I was back at M1NT ready to party.
I ended catching the last part of the press conference, but it was nothing great. I was more excited to kick it with Yone and friends after their 2 long days of work.
Getting things started right.
We had VIP, so drinks and shots we flowing in. I wanted to pace myself, but that plan failed miserably.
Yone posing for a change. My photography skills aren’t grade A, but I try. The studs on his jeans are sick!
Yone is one of the easiest people to get along with. We all had a fun time business aside.
The dance floor got pretty amped not sticking to any particular genre of music.
S.K. and Yone feeling the beat.
I exchanged contact info with all sorts of people this night. From photographers to even race car drivers, you never know who you’ll come across.
The problem with meeting people is you get handed a variety of drinks which probably don’t mix well. It’s always good to finish the night with water.
But the worst feeling has got to be seeing your $900 USD tab. After that was taken care of, we did what any drunkard would do… eat! For those wondering why not many photos of Sola, that’s because she had a cold and went back to the hotel to rest. The night totaled about 800 people, so I’m sure M1NT was pleased with the publicity. If you weren’t on VIP, cover would have cost $200 RMB or $30 USD, plus they kept it exclusive for VIP until midnight. I had a ton of fun, although I felt it the next morning.
