Taipei 101 Charity Event
During my short weekend stay in Taipei, I as invited by my friend and colleague to a charity event in the now 2nd tallest building in the world, Taipei 101.
I was told before the event that I would be mingling with the richest and wealthiest people in Taiwan.
That was made easy with the help of Mr. Hennessy, one of the sponsors for the event. Good thing Mr. Fiji was sponsoring as well to help counteract any bad intentions I may have had.
Some of the items up for silent auction included a dress, curtain, hi-tech bicycle, artwork, and golf clubs. Bids started at $1 NT (about $0.03 USD), but obviously no person would put themselves out there like that.
Few models walked around asking you to purchase a bag for $1000 NT. Inside that bag contained a small carton holding either a real or fake diamond. I never found out how you determine whether yours was real or not. Think each was tagged with a number which you used to check online after the event.
The view from the 86th floor where the charity was held. Couldn’t find a dark enough spot to get rid of the window reflection, and there was no outside balcony.
Instead of fighting the problem, my cousin tried to make it artistic.
Not that a reflection shot is really artistic…
After about 1-2hrs of standing and walking my heels starting hurting.
Finally the main event got started with Taiwanese celeb Elaine Tsai kicking things off.
Had a meet and greet with her before she went on stage, but I feel bad not knowing what she does.
The fella with the glasses is Taiwan’s number 1 cinematographer, Joshua Lin. Now I know what he does because I met him while at his exhibition event. Some of his beautiful photos were up for silent auction.
This young lady goes by the name of ‘Queen’ and is a Taiwanese singer.
She performed a few songs on stage, however, none that I was familiar with.
Then I heard a familiar voice while I was stuffing my face with sushi.
Everyone seemed to know who Khalil Fong was judging by their happy smiles
Khalil was interviewed and rushed out right after his performance. Figured he has a tight schedule to follow.
I was able to get a short clip of him performing his new song “Singalongsong” from his upcoming album ‘Orange Moon’. As you’ll see, I capture some giddy fans taking shots of him as well. Towards the end of the event, I was more than ready to head out to the clubs.
