Nissan Skyline GTR
Received a call on my cell from my uncle who told me to come down to his shop. He was working on my dream car, the new Skyline GTR. The car has been in Asia for almost a year so it’s not quite new, but it just released earlier this summer in the US. I jumped in the shower and made it down to the North Point area within the hour.
I found myself in heaven for the remainder of the day. One of the workers even told me to wipe the drool off my chin. Figuratively speaking of course. The engine is an all hand assembled 3.8 liter V6 twin turbo producing 480 horses.
Brembo disc brakes with nitrogen filled 20″ Dunlop tires to help maintain tire pressure over time.
The door handle was the first I’ve seen of its kind. I heard my aunt spent 5 minutes trying to open the door before she finally gave up.
The handle works like so. I’m demonstating with my index finger but of course you use your thumb to push then pull the handle to release the latch.
My favorite exterior feature, the signature Skyline tail lights.
Can’t really see it here, but the steering column has the paddle shifters for when the car is placed in manual control.
The Skyline can go 0-60 in less than 3.5 seconds.
You can shift between A <—> M modes for fully automatic or manual. After riding in the car, I can say shifting between each gear is seamless.
The push button ignition with keyless remote entry.
Popped in a DVD to test out the sound quality. The quality was clean and crisp, like being in a home theater.
That’s when I found out there was a Bose system installed with a whopping 11 speakers and dual woofers in the back seat.
This baby can tell you anything about herself. Whether she’s too hot, too cold, needs to be lubed up, it all shows on this configurable touch screen monitor. Don’t like the display? You can place certain readings in a graphical mode.
Time to get to work. The car came in for window tinting and a rear end camera installation. Windows were drying when I got there, so just had to wire the camera.
After a few minutes, the camera was installed. My uncle adjusting the camera to the right view. With parking spaces being so cramped in Hong Kong, it’s good to have back up cameras installed so you don’t nick your ride. Especially an $80,000 GTR.
Bath time for the beauty.
When the news came out about the development of this car I wasn’t impressed with the boxy look of the rear exterior.
But after seeing it in person, it grew on me.
Physical appearance isn’t as important to me as to what’s underneath anyway.
She’s got everything I could ever want.
All nice and clean. Time for a spin.
Took her down just a few blocks and parked right next to Victoria Harbor for a few shots with Kowloon in the background. I think I interrupted an intimate moment between the couple. Should have told them to get out of my frame.
Parked the Skyline back in the garage, and it was time to part ways. Noticed the automatic fold-in side mirrors in this shot. I’ll have this car in my possesion once I can get settled.
