Melody. To Leave Japan Music Industry

melody. is a 26 year old J-Pop singer from Hawaii. She went to Japan at the age of 19 to pursue her dream in singing and has been quite successful since then. 5 years after her debut, melody. is now ready to step away from the industry to pursue other life goals. The news comes just after releasing her 5 year compilation album on Oct 8, 2008.

I started following her career after her collaboration with m-Flo in the song “Miss you” back in 2003. Crazy how fast 5 yrs can go by. Here’s the message to her fans from her blog.

I have a very important announcement to make to all of my fans and staff.

As of January, 2009 I will be stepping away from singing.
It’s been over five years since my debut as an artist in Japan, and I’ve met great people and had great experiences.
I would like to say thank you so much for supporting me all the way.

To be honest with you, I always had two dreams. One was of course to be a singer, but the other was to do something in the fashion industry.
I’ve been fortunate enough to be able make one of my dreams a reality.
Now, I’ve decided to make my first steps towards my other dream.

This is a new direction for me and I really don’t know what to expect in the coming years, but I hope for your continued support. I really would not have made it this far without you all.

I sincerely thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
