Club Sugar In Lan Kwai Fong
Haven’t really gotten the chance to explore the nightlife since I’ve been back in Hong Kong, so on Friday night decided to go where the foreigners and most locals go, Lan Kwai Fong. LKF is the name of a popular street in the Central district which is known for clubs and dining.
I did my research for LKF clubs that were strictly playing hip-hop and r&b music for the night but only saw one. While arriving we noticed it was more so a bar and also packed with people out to the streets. Decided to go look for another club that my cousin remembered going to back in the day. We were about to give up after 20 minutes of looking when we bumped into a kid who happened to be selling tickets to it. Paid him $200 HKD each for the tickets, free drink included, and headed in.
This was the scene when we got in, but it was still early. The club usually doesn’t start picking up until midnight on Fridays. We came in to start getting liquored up.
I would say the inside was a decent size. The booths were members only for $4000 HKD/month and 2 bottles included if I heard the bartender correctly.
The other side with a few more booths around the corner.
There was some promotion going on for Life Team whatever the hell that is. I didn’t care to ask at the time.
The crowd started picking up exactly around 12am.
I knew it would be a while before people were tipsy enough to hit the dance floor.
The crowd gathering over the bar.
First group to make it out to the dance floor.
Followed by a few others.
Forgot there was a heavily guarded VIP section behind the DJ booth.
Bunch of the girls had a Life Team sticker on their arm. Now I’m curious as to what it is.
From then on there was nonstop dancing.
After a while the DJ in the black trucker cap did a Cantonese freestyle.
If you’ve heard Cantonese rap before, it sounds like garbage. To me anyhow. However, this guy was quite impressive.
By 3am my legs gave in and it was off to find a taxi home. Overall, I enjoyed the environment and music. Saturdays are a bit slower for Club Sugar, so it won’t pick up till about 1-1:30am. This club wasn’t listed on the LKF website so here’s the info below.
