Som Tam Nua
You don’t go to Thailand without trying their spicy cuisine. In Siam Square Soi 5 (Street 5) there is a restaurant by the name of Som Tam Nua or directly translated, Papaya Salad Restaurant. It’s well known for their spicy dishes and of course papaya salad.
You can expect a wait of at least 20-30 minutes before being seated. Once you get in, space is very limited and cramped. I had to walk in the front door sideways because I could barely squeeze through otherwise.
Here she is. The spicy papaya salad. If you’re not good with spicy foods I suggest you conserve on the water because it’s charged per bottle.
Lot of people order the chicken wings too. Very delicious.
Lastly, Tom Sap Moo (Spicy Pork Soup). I remember having some trouble with this one as beads of sweat formed on my face. Luckily there were others who helped finish this dish. We ordered a few other dishes, but got so caught up in eating that I failed to take photos. Give this place a try if you happen to be in the area!
