Macau Asia Pacific Poker Tour Season 2
This is an overdue post but still worth mentioning. During my stay in Macau, I knew someone who was playing in the APPT tournament held at the Grand Waldo Hotel & Casino. Poker tournaments are actually getting quite popular in Macau due to recent visa restrictions on mainland China visitors. The tournaments are a way to increase foreign attraction to help boost gaming revenue.
Buy-in to the main event was $25,000(HKD) and $150,000(HKD) for the high rollers event. My friend got through the first day but knocked out the second in the main event. The winner of the main event was Edward Sabat with winnings of $3,540,040(HKD), which is around $453,851(USD).
Got to enjoy a few perks rolling around with a tournament player. First off, the hotel was free of charge for the week stay. Second, was the open bar and all you can eat finger foods at the Monkey Bar inside the Grand Waldo. Third, was being able to meet all the poker players including the big names. The only name I heard of was Johnny Chan. You can see how into poker I am. The tour is currently taking place in Seoul, S.Korea.
